Interior Design with Revit

Every room has a story and a specification.

Explore a room-based design workflow that connects layouts, furnishings, materials and interior documentation.

  • Space & furniture plans
  • Finishes & FF&E
  • Interior elevations
Illustrative interior plan with furniture, partitions and finish zones.
Illustrative layout only. Furniture and finishes are concepts, not manufactured products or an actual Revit project.

The workflow

From first reference to final drawing.

Bring spatial ideas into a coordinated model. These four stages describe a typical approach—not a claim that any specific project has been delivered.

  1. 01

    Understand the space

Start with the architectural model, room program, circulation and spatial constraints.

  2. 02

    Plan the interior layout

Develop partitions, furniture, equipment and key clearances in a room-based model.

  3. 03

    Define finishes and details

Organize material assignments, interior elevations, joinery intent and FF&E information.

  4. 04

    Package the intent

Prepare interior plans, reflected ceiling coordination, schedules and drawing sheets for review.

Model handoffs

What goes in. What comes out.

Scope, detail and file formats depend on a project brief, modelling standard and discipline responsibilities.

Typical inputs
Room brief, architectural backgrounds, finish intent and furniture requirements
Model focus
Room layouts, interior families, material data and coordination with services
Typical outputs
Furniture layouts, room schedules, elevations and interior documentation

Good to know

Useful distinctions.

Is Revit an alternative to photorealistic rendering software?

Revit is useful for coordinated interiors and documentation. Detailed marketing renders may still be produced with specialist visualization tools.

How does interior BIM help MEP coordination?

Linked references allow designers to review lighting positions, ceilings, diffusers and other services in the same spatial context.
